PVCare - preventive conservation strategies for poly(vinyl chloride) objects

Poly(vinyl chloride), PVC, and especially plastic materials that contain it, has become nowadays ubiquitous and everyone has encountered this plastic many times. The most common uses of PVC include everyday objects, like water piping and gramophone records (commonly called vinyls), but also pieces of art and architecture as a versatile medium for artistic expression. The aim of this project called preventive conservation strategies for poly(vinyl chloride) objects (acronym: PVCare) is, as the name shows, the development of preservation techniques and the prevention of degradation of PVC objects.
